Today someone asked me if we'd had any concerts lately and my first thought was, "No, I haven't been to a show in months. The last show I went to was Richard Cheese, when we had some friends in town for ComicCon..." Then I realized that he meant had the Library hosted any concerts lately. Oops. Here's the answer he was actually looking for:
The Friends of the PB Library hosts a free monthly concert (admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted) on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. This Wednesday, Nov. 14, the Cecelia String Quartet will play from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Also, while we're on the topic of art, I wanted to hype the gorgeous exhibit that is currently showing in our Gallery. Celebrated artist Faiya Fredman used a flatbed scanner to capture images of flowers, leaves & twigs, then digitally manipulated them to enhance the colors and recreate their three-dimensionality. They are truly stunning. And even though it sounds odd to say, even the black background behind the flowers and leaves is so rich that it looks as if real plants are sitting in a shadow box. Seriously. Once you see them you'll know what I mean. This exhibit runs through December 2; don't miss it.
